The Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR) has announced the main areas it will focus on in its next annual risk assessment. These include homelessness, landlord performance in delivering services, quality of homes, tenant and resident safety, the development of new homes, financial health in registered social landlords (RSLs), and governance in RSLs. The annual risk assessment outlines the SHR’s engagement with RSLs and is the main way it meets its statutory objective of safeguarding and promoting the interests of tenants and service users. The SHR will take into account the economic challenges facing landlords and tenants, including increasing interest rates, high inflation in costs, and rent affordability, as well as the impact of rising cost of living on tenants. The outcome of the risk assessment and an engagement plan for each RSL will be published by the end of March 2023.
